Melancholy meets euphoria on the first full-length album by Winter Willow.
As life’s emptiness is reflected in the intimate vocals and personal lyrics, the music takes the listener on a journey through nostalgia and emptiness in a dynamic soundscape of raw, monotonous guitars, bombastic drums, rumbling bass and haunting melodies.
Formed in 2012 by Rasmus Rolling, Winter Willow was formed in Halmstad, Sweden and started out as a one-man Black-metal band.
Early releases where heavily influenced by the Depressive Suicidal Black-Metal genre and the classic Norwegian 90’s black-metal sound and featured a raw and lo-fi soundscape.
Later on the sound evolved and became more influenced by Post-Rock and the Swedish DSBM scene and today Winter Willows’ sound can be best described as Depressive Post-Rock with spoken words and anguished screams.
The sound has matured and strayed away from traditional Black-metal to give way for the sound of a melancholic euphoria, alloy with the torment of existence.
