New EP, “Sequester”, out now!
Visceral Contempt rose from the ashes of Human Demise, which disbanded in 2013. Vocalist Maurice and guitarist Willem stayed in touch, and in 2023 Willem wrote three old-school metalcore tracks built around the concept of Operation Oyster—the WWII Allied bombing raid on the Philips factories in Eindhoven. Maurice penned the lyrics and rehearsals began. Victor (Dark Intentions / Pigteeth) joined on drums, and the debut demo The Raid was recorded in February 2024. The demo was released later that year, with Johan (ex-No Turning Back) stepping in on bass.
The band played its first shows in December 2024, going on to support Earth Crisis, Mindwar and Rancor over the following months. Since then, material for the EP Sequester has taken shape in the vein of Ringworm, Kickback and All Out War: heavy metallic hardcore with vicious vocals, done the old-school way. Lyrically, the band ventures into new visceral territory, from the madness of religion (“Dogma”) and death by guillotine (“Mouton”) to torture involving rats (“Rodents”). The title track, “Sequester,” is based on the true story of Blanche Monnier, who was locked up for 25 years by her own mother.
