New EP, “Ameliorating Vicissitudes”, out on May 18th!
This eagerly awaited release marks a significant milestone for the band as it introduces their full lineup and showcases their evolution into a formidable force within the genre.
“Ameliorating Vicissitudes” features two new tracks that delve deeper into the realms of classic brutal death metal while incorporating fresh elements brought by the band’s new members. With Emrys Mellinger and Zach Klain on guitars, Ethan Shadman on drums, Sam Little on bass and Daniel Esquivel on vocals, Virologist is poised to deliver a punishing onslaught of sound.
Mixed and mastered by Josh Welshman from Defeated Sanity, this release exemplifies the uncompromisingly brutal raw sound of the new brutal death metal generation. Alongside the NSE bands Regurgitated Entrails, Nuclear Remains, Submerged, and Necrotic Infibulation, this tag proves the label’s ability to nurture new and emerging extreme music talents.
Virologist’s first EP, “Promo 2023,” was a solo effort by Mellinger. The addition of the new lineup members has enriched the band’s sound and expanded upon the foundation laid by the previous release. Guitars, bass, and vocals for the new EP were recorded at Mellinger’s home studio, while the drums were tracked at Captain’s Quarters studio in Ventura, California, by Armand John Anthony of Night Demon and Cirith Ungol.
With a lineup ranging in age from 17 to 19, Virologist is already gearing up to hit the studio again to record a full-length album, also set for release through New Standard Elite.
