New EP, “Universal Monsters”, out on February 2nd!
Universal Monsters is the culmination of a year’s worth of writing, recording and perfecting a select group of songs all about the most infamous monsters from classic Hollywood cinema. Each song was written with the desire to portray each of these monsters in their own element, both thematically and musically speaking. From a windswept Transylvanian castle in “Dracula” to deep in the Amazon rainforest for “The Creature From The Black Lagoon”, every song has its own spirit and tale to tell. – Billy Bönes (Lyricist/Vocalist)
The Deathtones were founded in the winter of 2021 by the members of the American mainstream pop punk act “RadioRiot!” as a horrorpunk side project. After less than a year, with The Deathtones’ popularity growing exponentially faster than their previous band, RadioRiot! quickly took a backseat to this new endeavor. In 2022 the band was signed by UK based label “We Are Horror Records”, and subsequently released thirty four songs, comprising five EP’s and a slew of singles. In 2023 The Deathtones released yet more singles as well as a “greatest hits” album from the previous year, entitled “The American Invasion”. After going through several financial and personnel changes later in 2023, the band focused on doing less releases, but making them better structured and written overall. In January 2024, they, along with Dan Phillips of We Are Horror Records started to plan the release of this latest EP, “Universal Monsters”
