Beginning her journey at a very young age, Sophia first connected with music by studying piano and harp, before switching to study classical singing. The legendary vocalists of eras past were early inspirations, from Maria Callas to Cecilia Bartoli and Nellie Melba. Their balancing of blissfully expressive softness and outright presence and power irrevocably impacted the enchanting sound of Sophia’s own captivating voice. Over time, the young teen would find solace in the weight and escapism of rock and metal, developing a fascination for the music of Evanescence, Nightwish, Nirvana, Metallica, Garbage, and The Cranberries. Anthemic writing and immersive design were key, engaging melodies amidst distorted intensity and euphorically passionate performances. When Sophia was a teen, she took part in her local rock festival, singing Evanescence classics like “Bring Me to Life” and “Going Under.” It was here that a flame was ignited for the sheer energy and honesty of the artform. SOPHIA MENGROSSO decided that rock was the natural direction for her own songwriting, a realm in which she could fearlessly express herself through realism of story and sentiment. She continued to pursue her dream of becoming a singer, and attended Conservatory of Music. To date, Sophia has recorded her first full-length album of originals, with the singles ‘Dream’, ‘Demonizer’ and ‘Under’ already noting tens of thousands of streams. The songs feature immersive production, boldly revealing and poetic lyrics, and faultlessly hypnotic performances from Sophia.
