New album, “Wastelands”, out now!
Athenian blackened heavy metal force Shadowmass return with their second album. Forged through years of disciplined creativity and relentless refinement, Wastelands stands as the band’s most focused and fully realized statement to date. Blending crushing heavy metal foundations with blackened intensity and thrash driven momentum, Shadowmass deliver a record shaped by experience, precision and uncompromising artistic vision.
Formed in 2019, Shadowmass first emerged with their self titled debut album through Somann Records, quickly establishing themselves as a formidable presence in the Greek underground. As the world slowed during the pandemic era, the band consolidated their creative base at Ignite Studio, where the foundations for both the Oculus Diaboli EP and Wastelands were laid.
The Oculus Diaboli EP followed in September 2021 via Metal Throne Productions, while Shadowmass continued to build their reputation through a carefully curated live presence across Greece and Europe.
Between 2019 and 2025, the band performed in Austria, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Romania, sharing stages with Hate, Suffocation and Belphegor.
Highlights also included appearances at Slap n Panic Festival, the Worshippers of the Void Tour, the Death Worship Tour across Greece and the Balkans, and a special guest performance supporting Mortuary Drape in Athens.
This live cycle concluded in September 2025 with four European dates on the Black Curse Tour, marking the end of a decisive chapter and the beginning of Shadowmass’ next evolution.
Recorded in April and May 2022 at Pentagram Studio, Wastelands was approached with meticulous attention to sonic clarity, cohesion and dynamic balance. Tracking, mixing and mastering were completed on site, resulting in a powerful yet controlled production that captures both the band’s raw aggression and their sharpened compositional identity.
The album explores themes of collapse, endurance and spiritual desolation, channeling a bleak atmosphere through tightly constructed riffs, commanding rhythms and ritualistic intensity.
Fans of Mercyful Fate, Candlemass, Metal Church, Nevermore, Coroner, Slayer, Aura Noir and Bathory will find much to resonate with across Wastelands.
With years of deliberate growth behind them, Shadowmass now step forward with a record that reflects both their past battles and their future intent.
