New album, “Catarsi”, out on October 16th!
Saüc, the renowned Catalan hard rock and heavy metal band, will release their new album Catarsi. While their previous work Eterna also flirted with thrash, this second album takes on a more contemporary edge, leaning towards alternative and progressive metal.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Txosse Ruiz at Wheel Sound Studio, Catarsi features collaborations with Kris Vega (Cobra Spell, Born In Exile, Serapis Project) and Marc Storm (Icestorm, Drakum) on the songs ‘Després Del Silenci’ and ‘Indíbil i Mandoni’, respectively.
The band from Balaguer continues to use Catalan in its lyrics, but on this occasion, they have taken a direction that, in their own words, is “more introspective and critical”. Thus, “in addition to talking about ideas, emotions, and the mind, there are also aspects of social criticism”, such as bullfighting in ‘Bèstia’ and gender-based violence in the aforementioned ‘Després Del Silenci’.
The final track on the album, ‘Indíbil i Mandoni’, is particularly noteworthy, a truly epic 10-minute journey that takes us back to the legendary revolt of these two Ilergetes brothers against the Roman occupation, all through a poem by Joan Baptista Xuriguera i Parramona.
Catarsi, Saüc’s strongest and most emphatic offering, is varied, thoughtful, and hymnal in its choruses, keeping you alert and headbanging throughout this carefully crafted sonic trip.
