New album, “Herbsthunde”, out on May 30th!
Lifetaker – Rust and nails for the ears? Aesthetic antitainment? A manifesto against reality? An explosive charge between affirmation and negation? Music for everyone – and for no one! Between crashing and screaming, the fever dream of this Dortmund collective has unfolded since its founding in 2018. Musical pigeonholes have been deliberately smashed, and expectations consistently trampled – precisely where the realization lies buried that asking questions is always more exciting than being served answers. With their new release “Herbsthunde”, the band presents itself as a trio for the first time and has once again managed to reinvent itself without sacrificing anything in its range of sound and noise. The new sound is boiled down, more precisely articulated, yet so deceptively catchy that the madness it embodies siren-like invites mutual self-destruction. On “Herbsthunde”, self-created analog-percussive sound cadavers meet synthetically distorted cries for help. These scratch like a poltergeist on walls of guitars, rumble on a massive bass foundation, and lead the descent into the crypt to find the final peace. Lyrically, the band exclusively immortalizes itself in German, once again deliberately refraining from offering the listener any light at the end of the tunnel or even handing over a guidebook. “Herbsthunde” is wholly dedicated to awareness and self-reflection – and calls on you to look away from yourself. You are invited to let the dogs out of the kennel and throw yourself away.
