JORDFÄST

New album, “Blodsdåd Och Hor”, out on July 25th!

“Blodsdåd och hor” (Bloodshed and whoredom) is the third installment in the Jordfäst saga and the darkest chapter thus far. Bellowed by the winds from the past, it is forged with steel and blood in a furnace built by Scandinavian rock. The lyrical themes and musical compositions bond together, forming a strong and durable alloy. Under the unyielding strokes of hammers, the characteristic Jordfäst soundscape has been hardened, and the melodies have been thoroughly honed by melancholia to deep-cutting perfection.
“Ett altare av skärvor” (An altar of shards) combines fragments from Völuspá with imagery of violent manipulation and mental torture to explore the everlasting desire in humans to make sense of their existence. “Dit gudarna trälar är” (Where the gods are thralls) journeys through centuries of Swedish history, shaped by steel and iron industry and defined by relentless warfare.
The successful recording process of Av stoft was repeated during the creation of Blodsdåd och hor, and previous session drummer Jocke Unger has now joined the band permanently. Vocals and all instruments except drums were recorded in Studio Wheelmust by Elis, and drums were recorded by the ingenious Ulf Blomberg at Hoborec. The task of mixing and mastering was again entrusted to the masterful hands of William Blackmon of The Overlook.

The origins of Jordfäst can be traced to the somber forests and murky lakes of Småland, Sweden, where the founding members of the band, Olof and Elis, first met during the early 2000’s. A shared youthful passion for the dark elements in music formed the embryo for what would later become Jordfäst, which emerged among the vast fields of Skåne in 2017. Musically rooted in black metal and Scandinavian melancholy, Jordfäst incorporates a wide range of musical elements from both thrash and heavy metal, as well as melodies sprung from classic Scandinavian folk music. As indicated by the name “Jordfäst” (buried, bound to earth), the lyrical themes are set in bygone Scandinavia, unearthing and giving voice to those who walked these lands before us. Rather than posthumous glorification of the days of yore, they put the lens on the ever-present concepts of oppression, forlornness and the ruthless forces of nature. The debut album “Hädanefter” and the sophomore “Av stoft” were released by Nordvis Produktion in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and garnered praise from fans and critics alike. After having refined their successful formula and having permanently joined forces with the ferocious drummer Jocke Unger, Jordfäst have teamed up with Black Lion Records to release their darkest album to date, “Blodsdåd och hor”.
