Debut album, “Descend”, out on November 24th!
Lhaäd dissolves into Däahl. The protagonist in reverse. Water becomes fire.
Indeed, Lhaäd were elemental: the Belgians’ trio of albums for Amor Fati were literal tsunamis of slip-streaming, world-eating black metal. So, too, are Däahl: black metal is still the base, but its burning violence goes both inward and outward with inexorable intent.
Both names are an anagram of hadal, the word for the ocean’s furthest descent, the lightless chambers of abyssal trenches where pressure becomes law and silence has weight. Beyond, Lhaäd ‘s final offering, sealed the underwater trilogy, a lid pressed gently onto the deep. Yet, in sealing it, a new portal opened: a fissure at the ocean’s floor, a passage not downward, but through. This is where Däahl’s Descend begins.
Hadal itself is born of Hades, the God of the ancient Greek underworld, and it is there that Däahl leads you – not to drowning, but to ignition. Past the cold crush of water, into a realm where depths are measured in flame…the sea empties itself and fire begins. Descend, again and again, until there is no deeper, only THE DEEPEST.
