Known for their vivid, cinematic approach to songwriting, the Ottawa-based Alternative-Metal / Mathrock quintet delivers a collection of 13 brand-new, emotionally charged tracks that continue to redefine their signature sound.
Since their formation in 2016, Consequents have cultivated a sound that blends alternative rock’s soaring textures, the heaviness of modern metal, and the technical precision of mathrock. Their albums are constructed like feature-length films, with each track serving as an individual scene, tied together by intricate storytelling and dynamic shifts in mood and tone.
On Cadence , the band explores a wide spectrum of themes — from betrayal and salvation (“Empty Rain”), to battling inner demons (“Ghosts”), to confronting mortality (“The Beyond”). Other highlights include the doomed romance of “Truth or Dare,” the sinister cyber-infection tale of “Hexadecimal,” and the victorious finale “The Crown.” Each song is crafted to stand on its own, while contributing to a cohesive and immersive album experience.
