New album, “Confined To Time”, out on February 26th!
CEMETERY REIGN is a solo death metal project helmed by the depressed and deteriorated mind of David McMaster, riff menace in Street Tombs and drum punisher in Superstition. Based out of the atomic desert of Northern New Mexico, the project surfaced from the grave during the COVID-19 pandemic while the world descended into mass death madness and psychotic political instability. Being in lock down provided time for writing and recording a multitude of riff-charged songs with haunting, reverberating guitars, and devastating rhythmic assaults of drum and bass ruthlessness that have been entombed until now. Common themes of the album include war, apocalyptic devastation, suicidal depression, and psychedelic-death insanity happening above, beneath, and beyond the funeral grounds of Earth.
McMaster elaborates, “The eight tracks on Confined To Time were all written and recorded from 2020-2023. The process at the time was to record riff videos on a cell phone while having drum ideas rolling around in my vacant head. The drums would then be thrown down on the spot when recording, often changing to fit the overall structure of the song. A full live band was briefly put together playing two shows in Albuquerque in 2022 and the plan is to get the skull rolling with some live appearances in 2026 after the album is released.”
CEMETERY REIGN’s Confined To Time was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Augustine Ortiz at The Decibel Foundry and The Kitchen Sink in Santa Fe, New Mexico with artwork by Grady Gordon.
