New EP, “6EQUJ5”, out on November 21st!
After three critically acclaimed albums, progressive metal band AEONS returns with the band’s most challenging and accomplished recording yet; The single-track, 23 minute-long monster that is “6EQUJ5”. AEONS are known for their complex, heavy-prog, laden with brutal grooves and haunting atmospheric melodies. This EP showcases everything the band is known for, but also expanding that very notion along the way.
6EQUJ5 speaks of our world alone, a lonely voyager within the cosmos, wrapped up in our own machinations, our myths and our religions. Haunted by our own failures and scrabbling to survive the future, we get a glimpse of something greater – something out there – and we realise with equal parts fascination and horror that we are – in fact – not alone. Through a radio wave from the depths of space comes a message that redefines who we are, what we could become, and our place in the universe…
The band is no stranger to experimentation, and over the last three albums they have gone from strength to strength with a rapidly growing fan base who have come to love the unique sound of their prog-metal epics and their punchy floor-fillers. Along with crushing riffs and innovative song writing they manage to weave melodic choruses into the maelstrom that is prog-metal. Formed in 2016 on the little-known Isle of Man, these five musicians have crafted a worthy back catalogue from their island: Now they and Layered Reality Productions can bring this next chapter to the world.
Featuring a line-up of Skippy on vocals, Joe on Bass, Justin on drums with Si and Scott on guitars and vocals, each member gets to add their voice to this enormous undertaking as we travel on humanity’s journey. But there is no needless showmanship here – just a love of the song and a dedication to the composition.
