New album “Old, New, Fast’n’Slow” out now!
The eternal return that plagues our days makes us turn in a spiral of contradictions where the heart is opposed to the mind and the rhythm around us cannot keep up with what guides us inside. Either because it’s too fast or because it’s too slow and everything leads us to questions, contradictions and unknowns that, at a certain point, make us doubt our very existence and even our humanity.
Old, New, Fast’n’Slow is the daily confrontation we have with the world around us and with all these dichotomies. It is the soundtrack that shakes us and instrumentally personifies the questions we create. There are 10 songs that exude rock’n’roll. Where the guitar riffs embrace the warmth of the bass, the keys create a warm and dancing ambience, and the drums guide us along the way. There are 10 strong songs that address current, constant and worrying themes and that are playing in the ear in a loop, just like this daily spiral into which we are sucked.
This album features Paulo Franco (vocals and rhythm guitar and bass), Joao Guincho (vocals, guitar and bass), Fred Ferreira (drums, keys), Vicente Santos (keys) and Filipe Brito (bass) and with the special participation of Cabrita (saxophone) on the song “Raw & Vulnerable”.
Old, New, Fast’n’Slow is the fifth album of originals and was recorded and mixed by Ricardo Riquier at Mary Pie Studios and mastered by Guilherme Vales. It was released on the 3rd of June with the Rastilho Records label and was presented on the same date at Village Underground, in Lisbon.
DAPUNKSPORTIF appeared at the end of 2004 in Peniche (Portugal) based on the duo and creative nucleus Joao Guincho and Paulo Franco, long time companions in other projects, and the producer Marco Jung. Despite the various musical influences, everything leads us to the presence of a Rock band in the true sense of the word. A visceral Rock supported by the riffs of electric guitars with no speed limit and hitchhiking with a wild rhythm section.
In June 2006, “Ready!Set!Go!” was released, the band’s debut album produced by the band and Marco Jung with the label Rastilho. The album received excellent reviews from the national and foreign press, having been in the top 5 of Blitz’s readers’ choice as well as in the top of several specialized music websites. After the accelerated and dizzying start that this provided, in 2008, the second album by the band “Electro Tube Riot” was produced again by DAPUNKSPORTIF and Marco Jung, with editing and distribution of the band in partnership with Lisboagencia. This album also received excellent reviews from the national press and once again allowed access to major stages such as the first edition of Festival Alive, Xan Xuan Festival in Asturias, first part of Fu Manchu. In addition to their published work, they also participated in the compilation Novo Rock Portugues by Chiado Records (2007) and in Vol. 2 of 3Pistas with Antena3/Iplay edition (2009). The third album was recorded in the bands studio and came out in October 2012, however a new song had already been made available: “Gimme one more”, during the stage of the World Surfing Championship, Rip Curl Pro 2010, in Peniche , as this theme pays tribute to the passion of surfing and life’s challenges.
The band continued to step on stages from North to South of Portugal and share them with big national and international names, highlighting the first part of the Mondo Generator concert in September 2016 and, at the same time, developed new projects: Lena d’ Agua & Rock’n’Roll Station (disc “Carrossel”, 2014), Thieves of Time (disc “Primeiro Assalto”, 2015) and Os Dias De Anger (O.D.D.R.).
DAPUNKSPORTIF released in February 2018, their fourth album of originals “Soundz of Squeeze’o’phrenia”. The band joined Fred Ferreira (drums) and Ricardo Riquier (sound engineer) to produce the same one that was recorded at the “Meiofumado/Kambas” Studios, in Lisbon, and which is edited and distributed by Rastilho Records, in a return to the mother house, where the group released their debut album. In “Soundz of Squeeze’o’phrenia” the identity of the band from Peniche remains, characterized by the binomial riffs/beats without cleavage between the instrumental part and the vocal part.
