Self-titled debut album out on October 16th!
Quivira takes its name from the legendary pre-Kansas Native American settlements that Spanish explorer Francisco Vásquez de Coronado believed contained vast riches of gold. The album transforms that historical episode into a cinematic progressive rock narrative.
The project features Jake Livgren (Emerald City Council, Proto-Kaw) on vocals, John Baker (Forever Twelve, Mars Hollow) on guitars, and Lisa LaRue (RematriNation, 2KX) on keyboards and VST instruments, with special guest appearances including Joe Deninzon and Evan Stanley.
Lisa LaRue is also a federally enrolled Native American and Native educator, bringing an important personal and educational perspective to a project that deliberately explores the history and cultural context behind the Quivira story. The result is an album where the historical narrative is not simply decoration for the music, but an integral part of the listening experience.
LaRue said: “Having several formats to choose from allow the listener to be able to use their preferred method to enjoy the music. The additional formats give those who are interested in the story more background through words and resources.”
The physical journey does not stop with KiTbetter. Following the album’s initial release, Melodic Revolution Records will also introduce The Field Notes — a special vinyl LP edition of Quivira, manufactured on demand in the UK by Elastic Stage.
With the complete album requiring a double LP, The Field Notes takes a different approach: a carefully curated selection of tracks chosen for their importance to the overall story, inspired by the idea of an explorer or scientist compiling field notes during a journey.
With strong demand already building for Quivira on vinyl, The Field Notes offers collectors a more focused physical edition while preserving the album’s narrative heart.
